The Railhub Finder provides not only mapped loading points, including extensive metadata such as storage areas, addresses, contacts, infrastructure, etc., it also provides information on economic activities in Thuringia. The aim is to give companies interested in climate-friendly and cost-effective transport of their products and goods a quick overview of the loading infrastructure in Thuringia.
The RaiHub Finder also aims to identify potential for reactivating disused loading points and building new ones. In practice, this means that companies with their cluster data can be mapped in the RailHub Finder and thus get in touch with other companies that are also interested in climate-friendly rail transport.
Twelve project partners are developing solutions to optimise regional rail networks and improve access to rail freight infrastructure. The results developed are intended to support local stakeholders in realising better integration of solutions into regional development plans. The implementation of the RailHub Finder is part of one of the project's four transnational pilot groups ‘Toolbox for Loadingpoints’.
Together with project partners from Italy, Slovenia and Croatia, the Thuringian Ministry of Infrastructure and Agriculture is developing the RailHub Finder, which is to be further developed into a Central European version following the pilot phase in Thuringia and an associated evaluation.
The RailHub Finder is an interactive map tool that displays loading infrastructure for rail freight transport and companies with rail freight needs in Thuringia. Following a successful test phase, the tool will be expanded to include German and European locations.
Logistics companies, infrastructure operators and shippers can use the RailHub Finder to find loading points and important metadata or provide their own infrastructure information to draw attention to their infrastructure.
After a successful test phase, the RailHub Finder will be expanded to cover all of Germany and later to other European regions.
